Quick answers

How many stock market holidays are there in 2026?

NSE lists 20 trading holidays for 2026; 16 of them fall on weekdays and 4 on a Saturday or Sunday.

Is the stock market open on Saturday and Sunday?

No. NSE and BSE are closed every Saturday and Sunday, except for special sessions the exchanges announce in advance (such as Muhurat trading on Diwali).

What are the normal market timings?

Equity and F&O: pre-open 9:00 to 9:15 am, normal trading 9:15 am to 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday. Commodity derivatives trade in a morning and an evening session; on many equity holidays the evening session stays open, as the table shows.

What is Muhurat trading?

A short special trading session on Diwali (8 November 2026 in 2026). The exchanges announce its exact timing a few days before.
